The program enables the user to define and design posttensioned concrete beams and slabs for any STRAP model.
The user has full flexibility in defining the number of the cables and their shape. The program provides easy to use tools for determining the number of cables and their trajectory in the beam cross section so that the resulting stresses are less than the values allowed by the Code.
The program accurately calculates all the losses including the effect of stressing one beam on other beams that were prestressed at an earlier stage. The time-dependent losses are calculated at time intervals.
Deflections and ultimate moments
For beams the program calculates the exact deflections. For beams and slabs the program calculates the ultimate moment capacity and compares them with the design moments in the model.
The program calculates the actual shear and checks it against the allowable shear.
The user can define a table of time points and assign the posttensioning of selected cables to certain time points and also the effect of certain loads to certain time points.
All construction stages defined in STRAP geometry can be assigned to time points.
Composite sections (beam with topping) may be designed. The program calculates:
- the additional moment due to differential shrinkage (beam/topping concrete age difference).
- the additional forces due the different creep factors in the beam and the topping.
- the additional forces due to creep from the loads applied to the beam before it is transformed into a composite section.
The program complies with the requirements of the following design codes: Eurocode, BS8110, BS5400, ACI, CSA, AASHTO, IS466.
